We see Seikaun’s hands tightening the string as he speaks about his personal philosophy:
«The bow is not for drawing, nor for releasing… it is for knowing the outcome.»
The chapter begins with Seikaun drawing his bowstring. He describes his shot as he strikes the necks of Qin generals with terrifying precision, saying:
«When the five senses unite… I become the bow itself. It is a merciless, one-sided massacre.»
He asserts:
«I do not lose the arrow, I loose the result from which no one can escape.»
(We see a horrifying scene of soldiers falling by the dozens, as if harvested by a rapid, invisible chain.)
Watching the influx of enemies, Seikaun says:
«The enemy pours in once again… No matter how many we kill, no matter what, they reappear. There is no end here… not anywhere.»
He continues his internal monologue, saying:
«Therefore, I will loose my bow towards nowhere, for my bow has lost its target (or meaning) long ago.»
(Translator’s Note: There are rumors that Houken and Seikaun are somehow related to the Absolute Dao in the past. He might be referring to Houken, one of the Three Great Heavens of Zhao.)
Riboku criticizes Seikaun’s haughty perspective on matters, calling it the «arrogance of the strong» and says:
«Those who possess power yet do nothing… that is arrogance. «The Path definitely exists! But it cannot be seen from a high vantage point (like your position as an archer), rather, it is seen from within, where people live and struggle.»
Riboku steers Seikaun toward a new target:
«We must crush the worst Path… Qin’s path of military might (represented by Shin).» And he challenges him to find the ending for himself.
In another scene at Seikaun’s home, he is shown donning his full armor. His young daughter says anxiously: «Father, please return safely.»
He answers her with confidence, yet his expression bears the weight of the mission, recalling Riboku’s words that he must be a «guide to the Path.»
He sets off for battle, screaming (internally):
«I have finally arrived!»
The scene shifts to the battlefield.
Seikaun spots his target, and soldiers shout:
«It’s Shin of Qin! The man who has killed so many of our generals…»
Seikaun addresses Riboku in his mind as he readies his killing arrow:
«If there truly is an end as you claim… then show it to me, Riboku.»
In the scene, we see a massive army (the Hi Shin Unit), and then we see Seikaun looking down at them from a high hill. Seikaun says:
«Here… the battlefield of the Hi Shin Unit, Ri Shin.»
Seikaun speaks to himself, saying:
«I was not waiting for someone to guide me. ‘Returning to the battlefield or not returning… neither was a specific desire of mine.’ ‘However, to say that I have returned now means… there is something I must do, a mission that is not yet finished.»
Then Seikaun commands:
«Let’s go.»
As Seikaun prepares to release, he notices something coming from the enemy army (distinctive arrows raining down before his eyes).
Seikaun says:
«Is there an archer faction in that army? … That unit’s arrows… are not bad.»
The Archer Brothers (Jin and Tan), from the Hi Shin Unit appear, intercepting his path.
Introductory Text about them:
«Standing before Seikaun… are the brothers who inherited the blood of the ‘Ten Bows’.» «The younger brother (Tan) is the one who killed General Kimmou 7 years ago.» «The older brother (Jin) has slain numerous commanders.»
All eyes turn toward a potential and decisive confrontation between the «Peak of the Ten Bows (Seikaun)» and the «Heirs of the Ten Bows (Jin and Tan).»
